About
About Pablo Amaringo (1938 - 2009)
Pablo Amaringo is recognized as one of the world’s leading visionary artists. He is known for his vibrant paintings inspired by complex shamanic visions. Although self-taught, Amaringo painted Amazonian landscapes and mystical visions with meticulous detail.

In 1988 Pablo Amaringo and anthropologist Luis Eduardo Luna and his wife, Sirpa Rasanen co-founded the Usko-Ayar Amazonian School of Painting. Honoring his legacy, the institution is devoted to preserving the knowledge and traditions of the indigenous people of the Peruvian Amazon.  In 1999 the publication of the book, Ayahuasca Visions: The Religious Iconography of a Peruvian Shaman introduced Amaringo's art to the international community.  In 2006 Amaringo wrote the preface for Plant Spirit Shamanism: Traditional Techniques for Healing the Soul.  Two documentary films have featured Pablo Amaringo's art, The Shaman & Ayahuasca: Journeys to Sacred Realms (2010) and Ayahuasca: Nature’s Greatest Gift (2014).

In 2011 ACA Galleries presented an exhibition of Pablo Amaringo's work to celebrate the publication of The Ayahuasca Visions of Pablo Amaringo, a collaboration between Pablo, Howard G. Charing and Peter Cloudsley.
