The Passing of Jeffrey Bruce Bergen

January 14th, 1953 - March 13th, 2024
Jeffrey Bruce Bergen, a tireless champion of American Art, passed away on March 13, 2024 at age 71. Jeffrey was born on January 14, 1953, along with his identical twin brother Jonathan, to Pearl and Sidney Bergen. In 1976 Jeffrey started working as the third generation of ACA Galleries, and in 2001 he be- came Chairman. ACA Galle- ries was founded in 1932 by Jeffrey's great-uncle, Her- man Baron, and continues to be a pioneer in bringing pro- gressive American art to the attention of the public. Known for his laid-back style he represented an era gone by with absolute integrity: where a handshake and a promise were the only con- tracts necessary. In 1982 he established the ACA Ameri- can Indian Arts Gallery on Madison Avenue and in 1992 opened a branch in Munich, Germany dedicated to intro- ducing the highest level of American art to European audiences. A deep thinker and philosopher, he studied metaphysics throughout his life. Jeffrey's passions spanned many areas includ- ing a deep commitment to philanthropy; he continued the gallery's tradition of sup- porting socially responsible causes through art. Devoted husband and father, Jeffrey is survived by his wife Dorian; sons, Casey and Vaughn. A memorial service in May will be announced.
